SANDERS WINS AT WATSONVILLE

WATSONVILLE, CA (5/1/26) The NARC King of the West Sprint Car Series made its first of four planned trips during the 2026 season to the newly revived Watsonville Speedway to kick off a busy month of May.

Justin Sanders set the tone early in the night by setting Quick Time in ARP Qualifying for the second consecutive race. Sanders circled Watsonville Speedway in 10.644 seconds, besting the 21 car field.

DJ Netto picked up the win in Kaeding Performance Heat Race #1, his 2nd heat race win of the season. Chance Grasty continues to impress, the Suisun City, CA native picked up the win in BMRS Heat Race #2, becoming the 7th different heat race winner of the 2026 season. NARC King of the West veteran, Tim Kaeding, picked up his series leading 4th heat race win of the year, by winning Hill’s Premium Meats Heat Race #3.

The three Heat Race winners and fastest transfer cars out of each Heat Race locked into the 6-lap HD Titanium Dash. Chance Grasty led all 6 laps of the HD Titanium Dash, earning himself pole for the A-Main. It was Grasty’s first dash win of the season, in his third dash appearance. Tim Kaeding finished 2nd, joining Grasty on the front row of the A-Main.

Grasty would take advantage of his pole starting position to lead the first 5 laps of the 30 lap Hoosier Tire A-Main. Tim Kaeding would power around the high side of turns 1 and 2 to take the lead on lap 6. Kaeding would hold off Sanders for several restarts to lead until lap 26. A late race restart was all Justin Sanders needed to capitalize, on the restart with 4 laps to go Sanders was able to throw a slide job on Kaeding into turn 1 and power to the lead. Kaeding would get upside down in turn 4 after catching the cushion wrong. Carson Macedo utilized the last race restart to pick up a few positions to come home 2nd. Kaleb Montgomery 3rd.

Colby Copeland advanced from 16th to 8th, earning FK Rod Ends Hard Charger award honors.

The NARC King of the West Sprint cars return to action on Saturday May 2nd at Santa Maria Speedway. NARC King of the West returns to Watsonville Speedway on Friday May 29th.
